A few unique marketing campaigns 

2001 “Become a Princess Millionaire!” 

In 2001, Princess introduced its fun-packed campaign: “Become a Princess Millionaire!” Consumers buying a Princess product featured in the campaign could win, for the first time ever, no less than one million Dutch guilders. In addition, monthly prizes were given away, with “Feel like a millionaire for one day!” as the theme. These prizes, which took the winners to fantastic places like Marbella, Cannes, Paris and Brussels, were broadcast on the RTL4 programme, “Staatsloterij Magazine”. The winner of the Princess Million was announced during the grand finale of the “Become a Princess Millionaire” campaign in the Grace Theatre in Amsterdam.

2002/2003 “Win the Princess penthouse near Marbella” 

In June 2002, Princess launched another spectacular campaign: “Win 

the Princess Penthouse near Marbella”. This gave consumers the opportunity of winning a fabulous penthouse worth €600,000 neat the upmarket Spanish resort of Marbella, by purchasing a Princess product featured in the campaign! During the period from June 2002 through May 2003, the jury chose a period winner every two months. These period winners won a one-week stay in the Princess Penthouse to feel what it would be like to be a true millionaire. This international campaign ran in five countries (the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, France and Italy). The spectacular final took place in Marbella. Here, the finalists competed for the main prize: The Princess Penthouse.

Princess Model of the Year Awards 

To introduce the Princess beauty products, Princess organised, in collaboration with top photographer Paul Huf, the first Princess Model of the Year awards in the Netherlands in 2000. During the grand finale in the Fortis Circustheater in Scheveningen in December, Touriya Haoud from Veenendaal was chosen as Princess Model of the Year 2001. The Princess Models of the Year Awards have been a springboard to success for a number of winners. Some have even evolved into successful models and actors. The same awards took place in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006. In 2006, the Princess Model of the Year Benelux 2006 awards were held in theatre De Zuiderkroon in Antwerp. The Dutch jury consisted of jury foreman and glamour photographer Govert de Roos, Gertjan Holleman, international top model Anouk Smulders, swimmer and Olympic Gold medallist Inge de Bruijn, presenter Nance Coolen and Jan-Pieter Roozen.

Princess Model of the World 2002 Awards, Curaçao 

Following on from the Princess Model of the Year awards held in various countries, the first Princess Model of the World awards were held in 2002. These awards took place on Curaçao. The following countries took part in the Princess Model of the World awards: Hong Kong, China, Spain, Venezuela, Slovenia, Korea, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Curaçao. Dutch contestant Luenna Felisie, representing Curaçao, was chosen as winner and crowned Princess Model of the World 2002.

Princess Model of the World 2004 awards, Hong Kong 

In 2004, the Princess Model of the World awards were held for the second time. It took place in the exhilarating metropolis Hong Kong. Nineteen models from as many countries competed for the renowned title “Princess Model of The World”. In the presence of the press and many guests from all over the world, Mireia Verdú Tremosa from Spain was voted Princess Model of the World 2004 in a week of spectacular events. The Dutch Night in Lan Kwai Fong and the Tulip Night in Gaia were part of the very varied programme. The absolute climax of this spectacular week, the grand finale, took place on 11 October 2004 in the majestic Grand Hyatt Hotel. Chinese Night was the general theme of this evening.

Circus Herman Renz 

After the fatal accident of its directors, the husband and wife team of Mr and Mrs Renz, in 1996, the future of the Circus Herman Renz was very much under threat. Aad Ouborg saved the circus by signing a three-year sponsorship contract, ensuring the survival of the circus for at least that period. Aad Ouborg is also lifelong ambassador of the circus. Campaigns were launched by Princess whereby consumers could win two free tickets for the great Circus Herman Renz show when buying a Princess product. Princess also had its own circus wagon, where customers were welcome to stay overnight and were given the opportunity to lend a helping hand at the circus.

In the spring of 2002, Princess organised, together with Circus Renz and Cas Spijkers “The Netherlands’ Biggest Brunch”. Master Chef Cas Spijkers prepared a delicious brunch for over 1,000 people in the Circus Renz big top.

In 2011, Princess is once again the main sponsor of Circus Herman Renz and the 100th anniversary of the Circus will also be celebrated in 2011 with special marketing campaigns by Princess.

Princess Efteling Day 2004 

In 2004, Princess celebrated its 10-year anniversary. As part of this anniversary, Princess organised an exclusive and unique Efteling Day on Sunday, 20 March 2005. Upon purchase of a Princess campaign item, consumers were given the opportunity to experience a wonderful day in this world of breathtaking attractions and fairy tales for only €10 per person and with a maximum of four people. On top of that, Princess supplemented the day with a musical programme full of surprises so that this consumer campaign, the largest ever, was an unforgettable experience for everyone! Princess followed up this unique Princess Efteling day by organising the same exclusive event again in 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2011. No less than 20,000 Princess consumers and relations joined Princess to celebrate its 15-year anniversary in 2009. The day featured many spectacular performances at the park by the likes of Jeroen van der Boom and Doenja & Kids. There were 15 chefs from Jeunes Restaurateurs d’Europe who prepared thousands of snacks using various Princess products.

Cas Spijkers Creates a Culinary Heaven on Earth 2006 

In April 2006, Cas Spijkers headed a group of chefs and waiters at the Princess Restaurant Chez Cas in de Kersentuin, Amsterdam. Despite his busy schedule, Cas Spijkers was challenged by Aad Ouborg to run a top restaurant for an entire month to demonstrate his culinary expertise. Aad had been toying for years with the idea of enticing Cas Spijkers back into a restaurant of his own, since cooking remains the great love of his life. Cas never actually expected Aad to go through with it. Cas pointed out that it was the ultimate challenge, but still agreed to take it on. Guests were able to enjoy Cas' and his team’s culinary expertise in style for a whole month. On his many trips abroad, Cas Spijkers has discovered some real culinary delights which he has been keen to share with his guests. At the Princess Restaurant Chez Cas in de Kersentuin, Amsterdam, Cas ruled the roost,

ensuring that his guests wanted for nothing. Who could resist it? The campaign was a massive success. In April 2006, 2,500 guests dined at Princess Restaurant Chez Cas in de Kersentuin. Together with the Stan Huygens Journaal from the newspaper de Telegraaf, Princess started an initiative to support the Dutch Victim Support Fund. The 13 tables available were auctioned off and the highest bidders, along with guests, were able to enjoy the superb food at this special restaurant. The full proceeds for the Dutch Victim Support Fund, a sum of €70,000, were accepted by Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven LL M.

A dinner for two at Chez Felice 2007 

Following the resounding success of the Princess Restaurant Chez Cas in de Kersentuin, Aad Ouborg also challenged Felice to prove his culinary expertise once again. Felice (Dré Steemans), who was a Princess ambassador from 2002 until his death on 9 October 2009, cooked for no less than one thousand guests during ten days in the month of April 2007. Location: the splendid restaurant Hof te Rhode in Schaffen near Diest, Belgium. Felice was assisted by top chef Felix Alen. After a career as a chef at the Royal Palace in Laken, Felix Alen started the restaurant “Hof te Rhode”. Since then he has become a renowned cook and culinary author, often appearing on TV and radio programmes. A chef with a crown – an ideal match for Princess! By purchasing a product from the Princess Funcooking range between 1 October and 31 December 2006, consumers had a chance to win an Italian dinner for two. Felice prepared an Italian menu for no less than one thousand guests in the restaurant “Hof te Rhode” in Diest.

Princess Goes Beijing 2008 

In the run up to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in China, Princess once again set up a unique worldwide special sales promotion. This sales promotion brought about considerable extra sales. Princess selected 10 products for this promotion. By purchasing one of the 10 selected Olympic promotional products, consumers in every country had a chance to win one of three Olympic prizes including a trip to Beijing or an all-in stay at Princess Hotel Bergfrieden in Seefeld. These products also had special Olympic packaging. The special packaging included information about the prizes the consumer could win. The prizes were based on the Olympic 3-medal system: Gold, Silver and Bronze.

Princess Grand Lunch 2008 

The Grand Benelux Lunch took place on Sunday 22 June 2008 in the Lepelenburg park in Utrecht. This lively event was hugely successful, and was enjoyed and savoured by all! Attendance at this elegant occasion was superb. Consumers who bought a Princess product also gained admittance to this Grand Lunch. The Princess Ambassadors hosted the event and presented a culinary and musical spectacle. On arrival, all guests were treated to a delicious appetiser made by Cas Spijkers and one of Tonny Eijk's healthy 'mocktails'. The Princess ambassadors created a culinary demonstration with the by now familiar Princess equipment. Tonny Eijk and his trio provided suitable musical accompaniment.

Book of Chips campaign 2010

When purchasing a Princess Deep Fryer, consumers receive a FREE copy of ‘Het Grote Frietboek’. Who invented chips? Was it the French, the Belgians or perhaps a pious Spanish woman? And how did a tasty bag of chips become our most popular snack? Why can’t 'frietsaus' (typical Dutch sauce used on chips) be called mayonnaise?  ‘Het Grote Frietboek’ answers all these questions. The book is about chips and gastronomy, favourite haunts of Dutch celebrities and ‘bio-chips'.  ‘Het Grote Frietboek’’ with cooking tips from our own deep fry expert Cas Spijkers. Nearly 200,000 books have been sold in the Netherlands. This book is published by the Princess Entertainment Group.

Princess Hotel Bergfrieden – Seefeld, Austria
