General Questions:

1.    Can I remove the plates?
Usually not, though you can with some of our sandwich makers.

2.    What can I use the grilled sandwich maker for?
You can only use the grilled sandwich maker to make grilled sandwiches. This appliance is not a grill and cannot be used for grilling other dishes.

3.    Smoke comes out of the appliance when I switch it on. How do I fix this?
The appliance may emit some smoke when used for the first time. This is normal and there is nothing wrong with the appliance.

If this happens after you have used the grilled sandwich maker a few times, check:
-    that there are no food particles in between the plates.
-    that there is no grease on the plates.

If you have checked the above possible causes and you have cleaned the plates and there is still smoke coming from the grill, please contact the Princess Service Centre in your country.

4.    Why do I need to preheat the appliance?
For the best grilled sandwiches, preheat the appliance before use. If the appliance has been preheated, the edges of the grilled sandwich are pressed together immediately.

5.    Why does the preheat light switch on and off from time to time?
During cooking, the preheat light will switch on and off. This is normal and indicates that the heating elements are being switched on and off to keep the appliance at the right temperature.

6.    How do I clean the grilled sandwich maker?
Never use any abrasive cleaners or materials, as these will damage the non-stick coating layer of the plates. Never immerse the entire appliance in water.

-    Use a damp cloth to wipe the outside of the appliance.
-    You can clean the plates with a damp cloth or soft sponge; do not use metal, sharp or abrasive utensils.

Make sure that the appliance is fully cooled before cleaning it.

7.    What is the best way to remove the grilled sandwich from the plates?
Use wooden or plastic utensils (such as a spatula) to remove the sandwich from the plates. Note: Do not use metallic, sharp or abrasive utensils as this can damage the sandwich plates and reduce the efficacy of the non-stick coating layer.

8.    How do I get a nice, evenly browned result?
You will get a nice, evenly browned result by smearing the sides of the bread slices that come into contact with the plates with a thin layer of butter.
