General Questions

  1. Can I clean the shaver under the tap?
    Yes, you can clean the shaver under the tap. Be careful with hot water, always check the temperature of the water to avoid burning your hands.

    Note: never dry the shaving unit with a towel because the loops of the towel can get caught in the shaving heads and damage them.
     
  2. What is the proper way to shave? 
    If you are new to dry shaving, it may take 14 to 21 days for your skin to become accustomed to the new shaving system. Princess recommends shaving before washing because the skin tends to swell a little after washing. We advise against using a pre-shave lotion with Princess shavers. A dry face allows the razor to glide smoothly over the skin without causing irritation. Princess recommends only applying slight pressure to the skin when shaving. Hold the shaver at a 90° angle against the skin. Always let the shaver do the work. Tense your skin and make sure to shave against the direction of hair growth. Hair does not grow in one direction so it is very important that you regularly change the shaving direction. Stubble is best cut in the direction of hair growth. When you have finished shaving, it is very important to clean the shaver. A poorly cleaned shaver can reduce the performance of the shaver. Princess recommends replacing the shaver head and the blades every 18 months, or when the parts are worn, to guarantee optimal shaving results.
     
  3. How can I best maintain the performance of my rechargeable shaver?  
    You should carefully follow the tips in this booklet. Before using the shaver for the first time, you should fully charge it. Then use the appliance to shave normally until the battery is fully depleted. Then fully charge the battery again. Repeat this process of fully depleting/fully charging at least twice a year.
     
  4. Can I use an alcohol-based pre-shave lotion?
    Yes, you can use an alcohol-base pre-shave lotion prior to shaving without any problem. The use of an alcohol-based pre-shave lotion can however damage the material of your shaver. Use of pre-shave lotion prior to shaving does not affect the inside of the shaver or the operation of the shaver. 

    Note: if you use an alcohol-based pre-shave lotion prior to shaving, always wash your hands before picking up the shaver.
     
    Alcohol-based lotions dry the hair and make hairs stand up, allowing for an easier shave.
     
  5. When should I replace the shaving heads of my shaver?
    You should replace the shaving heads every two years for an optimal shave.
