General Questions:

1.    Can I remove the plates?
Usually not, though you can with some of our Waffle makers.

2.    What can I use the waffle maker for?
You can only use the waffle maker to make waffles.
This appliance is not a grill and cannot be used for grilling other dishes.

3.    Smoke comes out of the appliance when I switch it on. How do I fix this?
The appliance may emit some smoke when used for the first time. This is normal and there is nothing wrong with the appliance.

If this happens after you have used the waffle maker a few times, check:
-    that there are no food particles in between the plates.
-    that there is no grease on the plates.

If you have checked the above possible causes and you have cleaned the plates and there is still smoke coming from the grill, please contact the Princess Service Centre in your country.

4.    Why do I need to preheat the appliance?
For the best waffles, preheat the appliance before use. If the appliance has been preheated, the waffles are sealed immediately.

5.    Why does the preheat light switch on and off from time to time?
During cooking, the preheat light will switch on and off. This is normal and indicates that the heating elements are being switched on and off to keep the appliance at the right temperature.

6.    How can I clean the waffle maker?
Never use any abrasive cleaners or materials, as these will damage the non-stick coating layer of the plates. Never immerse the entire appliance in water.

-    Use a damp cloth to wipe the outside of the appliance.
-    You can clean the plates with a damp cloth or soft sponge; do not use metal, sharp or abrasive utensils.

Make sure that the appliance is fully cooled before cleaning it.

7.    What is the best way to remove the waffles from the plates?
Use the special waffle fork or wooden/plastic utensils (such as a spatula) to remove the waffles from the plates. Note: Do not use metallic, sharp or abrasive utensils, this can damage the plates and reduce the efficacy of the non-stick coating layer.

8.    How long is the baking time of a waffle iron?
The baking time depends on the quality of the batter and the selected temperature setting, but is typically about 4-7 minutes. Remove the waffle once it is finished baking. The non-stick coating on the baking sheets of the waffle iron only needs to be lightly coated with heat-resistant oil or grease at the beginning of baking. Place the batter in the middle of the bottom tray. Close the top part and then push briefly; this will distribute the batter more evenly.

9.    How can I influence the baking results of the waffle iron?
Place crisp baked waffles side by side on a wire rack, that way they will stay crunchy. If you stack them they will quickly become soft. If you use milk instead of water, the waffles will be softer and darker. Make sure that all ingredients are at the same temperature, as that will make the waffles nice and evenly browned.
